Allentown School District in Pennsylvania Selects ClassVR to Enhance Universal Learning Across All Schools

Chicago, (May 14, 2025) — The Allentown School District in eastern Pennsylvania has selected ClassVR from Avantis Education to address one of its 2030 Strategic Plan’s key priorities to advance universal access to technology and prepare all students for success in a digital world.

Serving more than 17,000 students across 24 schools, the district has invested in 1,150 ClassVR headsets, which will be distributed across 66 “XR environments.” Each school will receive at least one set of ClassVR headsets, with larger schools receiving multiple sets to accommodate more students. Implementation is already underway, with teachers currently undergoing training to integrate ClassVR into their lessons across subjects including world languages and English Language Learner programs, and for students with special needs.

“One of our district’s strategic priorities is to design high-impact learning experiences to drive academic excellence and expand access to modern learning environments,” said Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Carol D. Birks. “ClassVR supports that vision by creating hands-on, experiential learning opportunities that allow our students to see and interact with content in new ways. Immersive technologies like this empower all students to explore, question, and think critically-essential skills for thriving in the 21st-century workforce.”

ClassVR, designed exclusively for K-12 classrooms, provides an all-in-one immersive learning solution including all of the hardware, software, training, and support required to successfully deploy VR/AR in the classroom. Allentown School District’s educators can access ClassVR’s vast Eduverse library of hundreds of thousands of VR and AR resources, allowing teachers to create captivating, interactive lessons that engage students on a deeper level.

The district selected ClassVR because of its robust library of resources, its classroom-centered design, and its ‘walled garden approach’ which allows teachers to manage and control the virtual learning environment ensuring a safe and focused experience for students.

“Innovation is at the center of our strategic plan,” said Kyle Kauffman, Director of STEM for the Allentown School District. “Our educators are excited to use ClassVR to spark curiosity and bring abstract concepts to life. This initiative supports our ongoing commitment to personalized and universal learning for all students.”
