Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) Hosts Third Annual Virtual National Career Fair Jan. 28, 2023

School districts and education companies from across the country will be on hand to meet with potential new hires

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Jan. 18, 2023) – In order to help organizations that are affected by ongoing staff shortages and who are looking to diversify their workforce, as well as individuals who are looking to enter the education field, the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) is hosting a virtual National Career Fair from noon – 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday, January 28, 2023. School districts and education companies around the country will be at the online event to recruit for a wide variety of jobs, including teachers, school counselors, school and district superintendents and other education positions, as well as for company jobs such as education consultants. The event includes workshops for job seekers with interview tips, resume feedback and mock interviews. For school districts and companies, it offers an opportunity to make connections with the ALAS network to support diversity within staff.

Job seekers and potential employers can register at https://alascareerfair2023.vfairs.com/en/registration-form. Registration is free for job seekers. Registration is $99 for potential employers that are ALAS members and $299 for non-members.

“We need a strong pipeline of talented, compassionate, equity-minded staff members, educators and administrators in order to improve education, especially for Latino and other historically marginalized students,” said ALAS Executive Director Dr. Maria Armstrong. “Our National Education Career Fair is an opportunity for job seekers to learn about new opportunities to make a difference, and for school districts and companies to recruit passionate employees which will ultimately help to strengthen that pipeline and better serve our students.”

The ALAS National Career Fair is geared toward educators, administrators and others in the education field who are ready to start or climb their career ladders. Representatives from colleges and universities will also be on hand to meet with attendees who want to discuss their career path.

The event is one of several networking programs and events that ALAS offers. The organization also hosts a major education conference in the fall, as well as vodcasts discussing issues in education, and other professional development opportunities throughout the year. The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents [ALAS] is committed to providing a perspective to all aspiring school and district administrators including superintendents through programs, services, advocacy and networks rooted in Latino experiences and culture. ALAS has nearly 8,000 members across 23 state affiliates with several more states soon to be a part of the ALAS Familia. Our Vision, Mission and Goals are to provide leadership at the national level that assures every school in America effectively serves the educational needs of all students with an emphasis on Latino and other historically marginalized youth through continuous professional learning, policy advocacy, and networking to share practices of promise for our students and the communities where we serve.

By the year 2026, Latino children will make up 30 percent of the school-age population. In the nation’s largest states – California, Texas, Florida, and New York- all of whom are ALAS State Affiliates– Latinos already have reached that level. It is of vital interest to invest in the education of every child, and the professional learning of all educators who serve Latino youth.
