The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) Brings 2024 World Education Summit to Members

ALAS Members receive discounted access to the Summit’s 400+ recorded sessions and can earn continuing education credits

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 18, 2024) – As part of its work to support the professional development needs of its members and their school districts, the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) partnered with the 2024 World Education Summit, an online education conference featuring more than 400 sessions, many by world-renowned education thought leaders.

The World Education Summit is held live online from March 18-21, 2024 and all sessions are recorded and made available on-demand to participants for a full calendar year.

With the partnership, ALAS members receive discounted access for themselves, their schools, or their district to the Summit’s sessions, and participants can earn continuing education credits for attending through a partnership with Arizona State University. Discounted registration ranges from $360 for an individual to $4,000 for a large school. Without the ALAS discount the prices are $461.27 for an individual and $4,977.90, for a large school.

“It can be difficult for district administrators to find high-quality professional development opportunities for their staff members at an affordable price. Our partnership with the World Education Summit helps to address this,” said ALAS Executive Director Dr. Maria Armstrong, who was a presenter at the conference last year. “Through this partnership, a district can get access for all of its staff members to hundreds of presentations on topics ranging from social and emotional learning to artificial intelligence and everything in between for the cost that it might otherwise take to send just one or two people to a PD conference. We are the first U.S. organization to engage in a partnership like this with the Summit and we encourage anyone seeking exciting new PD options to register.”

The World Education Summit features thought leadership sessions by some of the top researchers and global leaders in education, as well as teacher-led sessions offering practical classroom strategies. Speakers include Professor John Hattie, Professor Thomas Guskey, James Nottingham, Dr. Peter DeWitt and many more.

“We have over 400 of the best education speakers in the world presenting on high-impact topics that are relevant to a wide variety of staff positions,” said Anne-Marie Duguid, co-founder of the World Education Summit. “People are busy and we know you don’t have four days to attend an event. So, by offering all of our sessions on-demand, the Summit allows schools and districts to pick and choose what they want to offer for professional development. They can plan a full schedule of sessions, or they can just pick a few to supplement their own training or to use for discussion group topics.”

The World Education Summit has three broad themes:

• Base Camp sessions focus on the core aspects of teaching, learning and leadership and delve into areas like assessment, curriculum and artificial intelligence.
• Broadening Horizons sessions focus on topics related to “future thinking,” culture for outcomes,” and “impact enhancers.”
• Peak sessions focus on the “inner learner” with topics on consciousness, meditation, overcoming adversities, and the power of laughter, kindness and more.
