The Computer Acts as a New Instrument in Music Classrooms

The Bullis School in Potomac, MD, is a fantastic place to teach. The students are thoughtful, caring, and eager. The expectations set by the administration create a place of discipline, learning, community, and fun. The faculty is filled with genuine and dedicated individuals who are supportive of one another inside and outside the classroom.

One of the Bullis School’s most dedicated teachers is Stefanie Gogerty. She teaches computer music, sound design, and programming to the lower, middle and upper schools. Dr. Berger, president of MindRocket Media Group, sat down with Gogerty for an enlightening conversation. Gogerty said “The computer is, in essence, a new instrument that allows students to draw on their innate musical sense and creativity to tell a story. They plug in their headphones and they get going. They collaborate, they talk to each other about the music. It’s a lot of fun!”
