Chicago (April 23, 2024) Avantis Education, the leading provider of VR and AR content and hardware for K-12 schools, is providing teachers with free access to seven immersive scenes to support their Earth Day lessons. The following scenes are available until Friday, April 26, 2024 in Avantis Education’s Eduverse platform (go.Eduverse.com):
- Human Impact on Earth – Deforestation
- Human Impact on Earth – Pollution
- E-Waste
- Climate Change
- Ocean Plastics
- Recycling Plant
- Plastic Recycling
With the immersive scenes, students can visit a virtual beach littered with plastic waste and go underwater to view the impact of the litter on marine life, visit a virtual city grappling with the impact of climate change, walk through a virtual former rain forest where deforestation has occurred, and more. The scenes include recommendations for teachers on how to use the scenes to supplement their lessons.
The scenes are among thousands of pieces of VR and AR content and lessons available in Avantis Education’s Eduverse platform. They can be accessed using Avantis’ ClassVR headsets or on any web-enabled device including laptops, Chromebooks and tablets.
“Our immersive, engaging scenes about environmental sustainability are great resources to help teachers supplement their lessons leading up to Earth Day,” said Avantis Education’s Chief Executive Officer Huw Williams. “By providing free access to this content, we hope to help even more teachers raise awareness about the important issues affecting our planet, and how students can help.”
Providing free access to these scenes for Earth Day is just one example of Avantis Education’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The company also gives a discount to ClassVR customers purchasing new headsets if they turn in their old ones to be recycled. And it partners with a third-party company to recycle and break down the electronic components of the old headsets.
Avantis Education is currently a carbon-neutral company with plans to be net zero by 2040. The company also uses renewable electricity and efficiency-saving technology to drive down its energy impact.
“Corporate responsibility is important. At Avantis we are working hard to make sure our company is doing its part to support the environment and leave this world a little better off for the children we serve,” said Williams.
