Avantis Education Showcases Expanded Virtual Reality Content and U.S. State Standards Alignment at FETC 2024

Avantis Education, creators of ClassVR, to demonstrate its immersive VR lessons and scenes in booth #634 at FETC 2024, January 23-26 in Orlando, Florida

Chicago (January 24, 2024) — Avantis Education, creators of ClassVR, will showcase more than 60 pieces of new virtual reality content for math and language arts, and demonstrate its alignment of more than 350 lessons to U.S. standards at the 2024 Future of Education Technology Conference (FETC). The conference takes place January 23-26, 2024 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. In addition, Avantis will participate in a presentation with Montgomery Public Schools at 10 a.m. ET Friday, Jan 26, 2024 in room S220G. In the session, “Elementary Science Integration of ClassVR for STEM,” school and district leaders will discuss how they planned and initiated a large-scale implementation of ClassVR in every elementary school.

Avantis is the leading provider of VR and AR content and hardware for K-12 schools. Its ClassVR all-in-one VR/AR headset is designed specifically for K-12 classrooms and includes all hardware, software, tools, training, support and implementation services needed to deploy AR/VR in the classroom. ClassVR includes the Eduverse content platform with access to Avantis’ award-winning library of immersive VR and AR content and standards-aligned lessons for schools.

Standards-Aligned VR Lessons

At FETC, Avantis will for the first time showcase the alignment of more than 400 of its VR lessons with U.S. state standards in science, social studies and English/Language Arts. The alignment, done in partnership with EdGate, provides added value and convenience for teachers by making it easier for them to identify which lessons to select to accompany their instruction. For example, a second-grade teacher in Florida can select from a drop-down menu within ClassVR to find a VR lesson that meets the specific Florida standard they are teaching. Then the teacher simply uploads that lesson to students’ VR headsets or other devices to provide an engaging, interactive way to supplement their instruction, complete with teacher worksheets and other resources.

New Math and Language Arts Content

Avantis Education will debut its first-ever library of VR math content. The initial launch includes 20 immersive VR scenes designed for students ages 5-11 covering a range of topics including numbers, measurements, shapes and geometry, fractions, decimals, percentages, statistics and algebra. Resources include:

  • Counting in the Clouds
  • 3D Toy Workshop
  • Gnomes’ Fractions Feast!
  • Addition Magician
  • Ratio: Mud Pies & Milkshakes
  • And more

Avantis will also debut an expanded suite of language arts content, including language-focused content suitable for teaching English as a second language. It will introduce more than 45 new VR scenes designed to help students develop core skills and connect ideas with theory through the use of imagery and engaging characters like “punctuation dragons.” New resources include:

  • The Alphabet
  • Punctuation Dragons’ Lair
  • Days of the Week
  • Capital Letters and Full Stops
  • Homophone Island
  • And more

All scenes and experiences are accessible on any student device via the Eduverse platform or on ClassVR headsets.

“Virtual reality technology is a powerful tool to engage students more deeply in academic content,” said Avantis Education’s Chief Executive Officer Huw Williams. “Completing the alignment of our lessons with U.S. state standards is incredibly important to school districts and adds significant value for teachers. Plus, we have more than 60 captivating new VR scenes, providing even more ways for teachers to make learning fun and engaging. We are looking forward to showcasing our new features and lessons at FETC 2024”
