Avantis Named a THE Journal New Product Award Platinum Winner for Second Year in a Row

Chicago (January 8, 2024) — THE Journal has named Avantis Education’s ClassVR a winner in its 2023 New Product of the Year Awards. ClassVR, Avantis’ innovative all-in-one VR/AR headsets earned a Platinum Award in the “Virtual/Augmented Reality Headset of the Year” category.  This is the second year in a row an Avantis product has earned this award. It also marks the company’s ninth U.S. education award win since the start of 2022.

“More and more school districts are leveraging federal funding to purchase ClassVR, offering new possibilities to engage students in content and inspire learning,” said Avantis Education’s Chief Executive Officer Huw Williams. “ClassVR is the only VR headset specifically built for K-12 education and we are honored to have it selected by THE Journal as the New Product of the Year in this category.”

THE Journal’s New Product of the Year Awards recognize outstanding product development achievements of manufacturers and suppliers. It highlights products and services that are considered to be particularly noteworthy in the transformation of education technology. ClassVR was among 17 products recognized for their impact on K-12 education.

“We celebrate this year’s New Product Award winners for their pivotal role in advancing teaching, learning, and administration in education,” commented Rhea Kelly, editor in chief of THE Journal in an announcement about the winners. “Kudos to the exceptional products that have made a significant impact this year.”

ClassVR is an all-in-one VR/AR headset designed specifically for K-12 classrooms. Used by more than 1 million students in 100,000 classrooms and 90 countries, it includes all hardware, software, tools, training, support and implementation services needed to deploy AR/VR in the classroom. ClassVR, which qualifies under ESSER funding, gives teachers access to thousands of pieces of VR and AR content and resources to enhance lessons and engage students more deeply in what they are learning. Students can virtually experience walking with polar bears, swimming with sharks, or traveling back in time to see what it was like in a World War I trench.

New for the 2023-24 school year, Avantis has aligned 400+ lessons in ClassVR to U.S. State Standards in science, social studies and English Language Arts, providing added value and convenience for teachers.

This award win is the ninth Avantis has earned since the start of 2022.
