Ostaff Campbell Naughton
In this episode, we hear from Jenn Naughton, Courtney Ostaff, and Drew Campbell, authors of How to Homeschool the Kids You Have: Advice from the Kitchen Table, published by John Catt Educational.
In this conversation, we hear about the trio’s experience as homeschooling educators and the lesson they have learned from their experience and the experience of parents across the country.
“The question is, what are you educating for, what is your vision of an educated adult… We ask parents to envision what their version of an educated adult is and then work back from that to figure out how you get there. How do you educate the individual?”
The goal of How to Homeschool the Kids You Have: Advice from the Kitchen Table is to give homeschool parents a framework to begin home-schooling. From broader philosophical boundaries like the ‘point’ of education to practically applicable lessons like the science of learning, this book bridges the gap that lack of communication can create. In almost a ‘mini teacher training’ as they put it, parents will have access to information like literacy, neurodiversity, memorization, and more.
