Twinkl Offering Free Educational Materials to Help Children Learn About Women’s History Month

Educational Publisher Twinkl is celebrating Women’s History Month this March by offering free resources for kindergarten through eighth grade.

The free Women’s History Month resources include reading comprehension worksheets, biographical research templates, timeline activities, coloring sheets, a reader’s theater activity, and printable bookmarks.

These resources can be downloaded and printed without limit by teachers and parents alike. Twinkl’s goal is to raise as much awareness and celebration of influential historical women as possible, bringing these materials to as many homes and classrooms as possible.

A 2017 report by the National Women’s History Museum found that in social studies state standards across the country, only 1 out of every 4 historical figures mentioned is a woman.

Twinkl is committed to providing teachers and educators with the highest quality teaching and learning materials to help children learn about and celebrate the contributions of women throughout history.

Jude Schroeder, USA Country Manager at Twinkl, said: “As a woman leader, passionate education advocate, and the mother of two daughters, I proudly promote Women’s History Month as an impactful educational celebration.

At Twinkl, we want to provide children with empowering learning experiences about the achievements of women throughout history to spark inspiration and champion them to reach higher, dream bigger, and blaze their own trails.”

Women’s History Month began in 1987 when it was designated by a Presidential Proclamation from President Carter. In his speech, he shared the sentiment that history had almost always been told by men, causing an under-representation of women’s voices. Each year, this event aims to re-balance this representation.

The theme for Women’s History Month 2024 is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories,” which is featured throughout Twinkl’s women’s history resources.

About Twinkl

Twinkl began in 2010 with a single dream – to help those who teach.

Founders Jonathan and Susie Seaton, passionate education advocates, realized there weren’t enough options for high-quality, low-cost teaching resources for educators to instantly download and use in their classrooms. So they got to work.

Twinkl provided an immediate solution that saved educators time planning and creating resources so they could spend more time doing what they do best – teaching children.

The Twinkl website is a busy education hub with 14 million+ monthly visits. More than one million award-winning, standards-aligned resources for every grade, subject, and learning setting are available on the Twinkl website for instant download
