Jennifer Abrams to Present at NESA Conference in Abu Dhabi

Washington, DC ― Jennifer Abrams, renowned education and communications consultant and author, will be traveling to the United Arab Emirates to present two three-hour workshops, “Having Hard Conversations” and “Being Generationally Savvy: Working Effectively Across Generations,” at the Near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools (NESA) Fall Leadership Conference on October 20 and 21, respectively. The full conference will take place from October 19-22 at the InterContinental Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

“I’m excited to share my two workshops with the impressive group of leaders at the NESA fall conference and to present attendees with professional insights I’ve gained over my years in the field,” said Abrams. “Whether each educator attends my workshop on having hard conversations or being generationally savvy―or both―I’m confident they’ll leave with a valuable new perspective and practical tools and strategies to improve their individual practice and their school.”

Having Hard Conversations ― Friday, October 20

This workshop, based on Abrams’s book of the same name, is designed to help participants create scripting tools and action plans for times when difficult conversations in the workplace become necessary and unavoidable. Participants learn how to use the appropriate professional language for the challenges they are facing, how to avoid “trigger words” that put others in a defensive position, and how to choose the proper time and place for those hard conversations.

Being Generationally Savvy: Working Effectively Across Generations ― Saturday, October 21

In this workshop, based on Abrams’s book The Multigenerational Workplace: Communicate, Collaborate and Create Community, participants will gain a better understanding of each generation’s needs and motivations in the workplace learn how to engage more effective collaboration with generationally diverse teams. Educators will become more skilled at creating an inclusive environment where all generations can succeed and, importantly, will learn how to adapt their language skills to communicate effectively with multiple generations.

NESA’s stated vision is to create dynamic, collaborative professional relationships that transcend current barriers and boundaries in order to maximize student learning in member schools. The Fall Leadership Conference will be attended by 450-500 heads of school, principals, curriculum coordinators, trustees, business managers, and others in leadership roles.
