Meet Your Favorite EdTech Authors at FETC 2019 (Part 3)

Wednesday, January 30, 2019 schedule FETC 2019 is right around the corner, and it’s a perfect time to become acquainted with some of the offerings available in the Expo Hall.

The “Meet the Authors” booth is an exciting opportunity for attendees to discuss hot topics, ask questions, take photos and get your books signed by best-selling education technology authors. There will be sessions taking place on each day from Monday – Wednesday, all at Booth 3313. See the schedule and preview the authors for Wednesday, January 30, 2019, below.

Rushton Hurley has been a high school and college Japanese language teacher, principal of an online school, and a successful social benefit entrepreneur. He is the executive director of NextVista.org, the author of two books on schools and teaching, and the founding president of the Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley. Rushton works with teachers and leaders around the world on affordable and innovative technology, the power of digital media, and the perspectives and experiences of professionals in an ever-changing world.

Kathleen McClaskey, M.Ed. is Founder of Make Learning Personal and co-author of bestsellers Make Learning Personal and How to Personalize Learning: A Practical Guide for Getting Started and Going Deeper. She is an innovative leader, education technologist, international speaker, professional developer, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) consultant with over 30 years of experience in creating learner-centered environments as a teacher, K-12 administrator and consultant.

She is passionate in empowering learners with tools, skills and learning strategies so they become independent self-directed learners, learners with agency, who are future ready for college, career and life. Kathleen coined the phrase: “Every child on the planet is a learner.”

Holly Clark, author of The Google Infused Classroom.

Holly Clark is an award-winning educator and speaker based in San Diego. She is both a National Board Certified Teacher and Google Certified Innovator. A long time teacher and administrator, Holly consults globally with schools to help them successfully and purposefully innovate instruction through the use of learning theory, technology integration and design thinking strategies. Holly holds an MA in Education from Columbia University, New York.

She is an internationally recognized keynote speaker – passionately spreading the idea that we need to disrupt education and innovate our classroom curriculum.

She is the Educational Strategist for EdTechTeam and head of their new publishing division – EdTechTeam Press. She also authors a successful blog.

Jaime Donally is a passionate technology enthusiast. She began her career as a math teacher and later moved into Instructional Technology. Her passion to build relationships has brought about opportunities to collaborate with students and educators around the world. She provides staff development and training on trending technology topics. Her latest adventures include the startup of Global Maker Day, #ARVRinEDU and the Hoonuit Learning Ambassador Program.

Rachelle Dene Poth, author of uNconventional.

I have been teaching for the past 21 years. I teach Spanish and a STEAM course called What’s nExT? In Emerging Technology, on Augmented and Virtual Reality, we cover PBL and Digital Tools. I am an attorney and have a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology. I am President-Elect for the Teacher Education Network and Communications Chair for the Mobile Learning Network. I was honored to be selected as one of “20 to watch” by the NSBA and the PAECT Outstanding Teacher of the Year for 2017. At ISTE 2017 San Antonio, I received the Presidential Silver Award for Volunteer Service to Education.

Dr. Jacie Maslyk is an educational leader with experience at the classroom, school, and district level. Jacie is passionate about teaching and learning that embraces innovative practices. She enjoys writing and speaking about the STEAM Maker Movement happening in education. She is an award-winning author (Frank S. Manchester Award for Excellence in Journalism) and keynote speaker, who has presented at the state and national level about literacy, leadership, STEAM education, Maker learning, and leadership.

Matt Miller is an educator and blogger. Sandra Adams, author of Diving into Strategic Thinking and Launching 21st Century High School Internships.

Sandra Adams currently works with FWCS as a Building Instructional Coach with the Career Academy. Her role involves supporting instructors with curriculum, technology, and instruction, connecting with business and industry partners, and creating internships for students with business and industry partners. Prior to this position, Sandra worked as an independent consultant and a high school teacher. Sandra also served as an Ohio state mentor for the Race to the Top initiative for six years. Her degrees are from University of Toledo, BGSU, and she is currently a doctoral candidate with Indiana State University. Sandra presents regularly for Regional ACTE and National ACTE conferences.

Robert Dillon, author of The Space: A Guide for Educators

Dr. Robert Dillon has served as an educational leader in a number of public schools throughout the Saint Louis area over the last twenty years as a teacher, principal, and director of innovation. Dr. Dillon has a passion to change the educational landscape by building excellent engaging schools for all students. Dr. Dillon has had the opportunity to speak throughout the country at local, state, and national conferences as well as share his thoughts and ideas in a variety of publications. He is the author of four books on best practices.

Michael Cohen, author of Educated By Design: Designing The Space To Explore, Experiment, and Extract Your Own Creative Potential.

Michael Cohen, known as The Tech Rabbi, is a designer and technologist turned educator. As a speaker, writer and creativity instigator, he’s on a mission to help young people develop the creative confidence they need to become challenge seekers and solution designers.

Cohen shares his story of design and creativity through social media, keynote addresses and featured talks on international stages, including ISTE, SXSW EDU, Congreo Mexico, EdTechTeacher Summits and Apple Education events.

He currently serves as the director of innovation at Yevisha University of Los Angeles Boys School (YULA), where he’s focused on scaling a student-driven entrepreneurial studio. He’s the producer of the Educated By Design Project and upcoming book published by DBC Inc.

Monica Burns, author of Tasks Before Apps.

Dr. Monica Burns is a curriculum and educational technology consultant, Apple Distinguished Educator and founder of ClassTechTips.com. As a classroom teacher, Monica used one-to-one technology to create engaging, standards-based lessons for students. Monica has presented to teachers, administrators and tech enthusiasts at numerous national and international conferences including SXSWedu, ISTE, and EduTECH. She is a webinar host for SimpleK12 and a regular contributor to Edutopia.
