New Report Underscores the Importance of Career & Technical Education (CTE) to Help Fill the Healthcare Workforce Pipeline

Free, downloadable report from iCEV provides timely information and valuable insights about the healthcare industry, as well as practical strategies for prioritizing healthcare in today’s CTE programs

Lubbock, TX – July 9, 2024 iCEV, a leading producer of Career & Technical Education (CTE) curriculum, industry certification preparation and testing, and CTE data management, recently released “Bridging the 10 Million Health Worker Gap: The Impact of CTE Educators.” This free, downloadable report for state elected officials, state departments of education, administrators, CTE leaders, and educators details projected shortfalls of healthcare workers nationwide and how an increased emphasis on CTE provides a viable solution to this critical and timely issue.

“As highlighted in the report, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates a projected shortfall of 10 million healthcare workers by 2030. This includes the need for approximately 1.8 million healthcare workers by 2032 in the United States alone,” said Dusty Moore, CEO of iCEV. “High-quality CTE programming focused specifically on healthcare is—and will continue to be—needed to fill the workforce pipeline.”

The report specifically covers trends in U.S. job growth, projected shortfalls of healthcare workers, and reasons why the healthcare industry is booming; provides data-driven findings on the challenges CTE educators face; and offers direct insights from CTE educators about the impact of certifications, healthcare courses, and igniting student career curiosity.

Importantly, the report also provides five actionable and practical ways CTE leaders and educators can strengthen their healthcare programming.

“As healthcare leaders continuously look to K-20 education to inspire, motivate, and train the next generation of healthcare workers, it is imperative that school and district leaders prioritize and increase learning opportunities related to healthcare careers as part of their CTE programs,” added Moore. “It is equally as important that CTE educators have a plan in place and the resources—high-quality curriculum, lab activities, career exploration materials, and professional learning—needed to engage students and propel them to join this industry.”

The informational report was conducted by Catapult X, an independent research agency specializing in science, STEM, and CTE education, on behalf of iCEV.
