20th Anniversary Summit to be held Oct. 4-6, 2023 in San Antonio, TX

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 3, 2023) – The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) kicks off its 20th Anniversary Education Summit on October 4, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. The sold-out event features a keynote address by U.S. Secretary of Education Dr. Miguel Cardona and a fireside chat with former NASA astronaut José Hernández, whose life story was made into the film “A Million Miles Away.”

The Summit takes place Oct. 4-6, 2023 at the Grand Hyatt, San Antonio River Walk in San Antonio and is ALAS’ premier leadership development event of the year. In addition to offering inspiring speakers, it also includes superintendent panel discussions, more than 100 Learning and Discovery Sessions, workshops, policy updates, book signings, and networking opportunities for administrators, aspiring administrators, school board members, education leaders and solution providers from across the country.

“Our Education Summit will be a celebration of our achievements over the last 20 years and will also serve as a call to action as we discuss our priorities and plans for the future,” said ALAS Executive Director Dr. Maria Armstrong. “Each day will be full of learning and inspiration, as well as opportunities for participants to create and strengthen their networks in the education field and beyond. We are thrilled to have Dr. Cardona and José Hernández on our list of amazing speakers and panelists this year.”

The Education Summit focuses on addressing challenges in the education system, particularly those impacting Latino students and provides a forum for participants to engage in meaningful discussions and identify solutions that can be applied throughout the industry. It is among several events and professional development programs ALAS offers throughout the year to support Latino education leaders and the students and communities they serve.
