ClassVR wins in the “primary education” category, marking company’s eighth U.S. education award win within two years

Chicago (October 5, 2023) — Avantis Education’s ClassVR has been named a winner in the Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence: Back-to-School 2023, marking the company’s eighth U.S. education award win since the start of 2022.

The Tech & Learning awards program honors technology that supports effective teaching and learning practices for the 2023-2024 school year. It is designed to help schools find the products and solutions that will support their work in any learning environment. ClassVR, Avantis’ innovative all-in-one AR/VR headsets, won in the “primary education” category which recognizes products for students in grades K-6.

“With ESSER funding coming to an end, and emerging tech like AI exploding into the market with little guidance as to how best to integrate this new technology into the classroom, it’s more important than ever to curate the many education products on the market to ensure your investments support innovative teaching and learning,” said Tech & Learning Content Director Christine Weiser in the company’s announcement of the winners. “Our judges chose the following nominated products based on their versatility, compatibility, value, and ability to help schools solve challenges and support continuous instruction. Congratulations to all of our winners.”

The Tech & Learning judges called ClassVR “the total package when it comes to bringing and scaling VR use for schools.”

ClassVR is an all-in-one VR/AR headset designed specifically for K-12 classrooms. Used by more than 1 million students in 100,000 classrooms and 90 countries, it includes all hardware, software, tools, training, support and implementation services needed to deploy AR/VR in the classroom. ClassVR, which qualifies for ESSER funding, gives teachers access to thousands of pieces of VR and AR content and resources to enhance lessons and engage students more deeply in what they are learning. Students can virtually experience walking with polar bears, swimming with sharks, or traveling back in time to see what it was like in a World War I trench.

New for the 2023-24 school year, Avantis has aligned 400+ lessons in ClassVR to U.S. State Standards in science, social studies and English Language Arts, providing added value and convenience for teachers.

The most recent Tech & Learning award is the eighth U.S. education award Avantis Education has earned since the beginning of 2022. In August Avantis was named a winner in the Educators Pick Best of STEM ® 2023 Awards, an awards program judged by STEM educators – one of whom commented that Avantis is “blazing trails in the AR/VR world by providing engaging activities for students.”

“We develop our products with the goal of supporting teachers who want to use AR and VR technology to enhance student learning,” said Avantis Education’s CEO Nik Tuson. “These latest award wins further validate that we are meeting this goal and we are honored to be selected as winners.”

Avantis’ other award wins since the beginning of 2022 include both the 2022 and 2023 Tech & Learning Best of Show awards at ISTELive, the 2023 SmartBrief Readers’ Choice Awards, the EdTech Digest 2023 EdTech Awards, the Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence Best of 2022, and THE Journal’s 2022 New Product Awards. Avantis was also named a finalist in the District Administration Top Ed Tech Products Awards at FETC 2023.

The company has earned several awards in the UK as well, including being named a winner in the EdTechX Awards and being named a finalist in the AIXR VR Awards.
