STEM and STEAM Education

STEM education brings together science, technology, engineering and mathematics; STEAM adds the arts. Both aim to teach students to solve real problems the way scientists, engineers and designers do, through hands-on projects, experiments and building, and both are closely tied to the careers employers struggle to fill.

edCircuit's coverage is written for STEM teachers, coordinators and school leaders. It covers robotics clubs and other ways to bring engineering into school, classroom activities and films that spark interest, the pioneers who shaped the fields and the Scully effect on girls' interest in science, STEM for students with additional needs, and STEM as workforce readiness. Because hands-on learning carries real hazards, lab safety has its own section, Science and Lab Safety.
