Charlotte, NC (Wednesday, May 8, 2024)—Georgia Cyber Academy (GCA) today announced an extension of its multi-year collaboration with global edtech leader Discovery Education creating dynamic digital learning environments statewide. Through the continuation of this partnership, teachers in the Georgia Cyber Academy’s K-12 classes will continue to integrate Discovery Education’s dynamic digital resources into instruction, igniting student curiosity and supporting higher academic achievement.
Georgia Cyber Academy is a statewide, tuition-free, online, accredited Georgia public charter school for students in grades K-12 that serves approximately 11,000 students. GCA’s team of dedicated educators create exciting virtual learning environments where students are empowered to reach their full academic potential through participation in live interactive classes and an engaging curriculum that supports individualized and differentiated student learning paths.
Realizing their continued need for a suite of digital solutions that empower K-12 teachers to create learning environments capable of capturing students’ attention, GCA’s administrators renewed their long-term relationship with Discovery Education. With these resources in hand, GCA teachers can create lessons that help all learners successfully reach their full potential, emerge career or college ready, and prepared to assume roles as positive contributors to society. Discovery Education Experience. Connecting educators to a vast collection of high-quality, standards-aligned content, ready-to-use digital lessons, intuitive quiz and activity creation tools, and professional learning resources, Discovery Education Experience provides a powerful K-12 learning platform that facilitates engaging instruction in any environment. These resources, sourced from trusted partners, are aligned to state and national standards, and help educators bring the outside world into teaching and learning every day. Through expanded, lasting partnerships with Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, Schoology, Canvas, Brightspace, ClassLink, and Clever, integrating Discovery Education’s learning platform into existing Information Technology architecture is easier than ever.
Science Techbook. Accessed through Discovery Education’s award-winning digital platform Discovery Education Experience, the Science Techbook is a K-12 core curriculum that includes engaging digital resources, hands-on activity kits, virtual investigations, and custom professional learning. This comprehensive resource includes ready-to use, phenomena-driven lessons that motivate students, powerful technology tools—such as toggle-on Spanish translation—that personalize access, and time-saving teacher tools that streamline prep and grading. Science Techbook is available in both print and digital formats, providing a seamless classroom experience complete with immersive, interactive ways to explore, including hands-on engineering activities, interactive labs, and STEM connections.
Through its digital, print, and blended options, Science Techbook delivers a wide range of high-quality resources that support students as they discover how science is practiced in the real world while focusing on deeper understanding and application of grade-appropriate science content. Recently, Discovery Education’s Science Techbook was certified as meeting the rigorous, evidence-based ESSA Tier III standards as set forth in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
Social Studies Techbook. Also accessed through Discovery Education’s award-winning digital platform Discovery Education Experience, Discovery Education’s Social Studies Techbook is a standards-aligned, core-curricular resource that uses an inquiry-based approach to enhance literacy and critical thinking skills, allowing students to approach inquiry through the 5Es: Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend, and Evaluate. From stories of ancient cultures to current events, this comprehensive digital textbook takes concepts off the pages and brings lessons to life. In addition, users of this resource enjoy access to two Lexile levels of core content, authentic Spanish translation, 180 additional languages through Google Translate, and innovative strategies for teaching all students.
