iCEV, a trailblazer in Career & Technical Education (CTE) solutions, and the National Horse Judging Team Coaches’ Association (NHJTCA) partnered to provide the NHJTCA Equine Management & Evaluation Certification exam at the National Horse Evaluation Career Development Event (CDE) during the 97th National FFA Convention.

“Through our partnership with NHJTCA and FFA, iCEV is proud to provide industry certification exams to more students. Even if students didn’t perform as well as they hoped in the contest, they could still walk away with an industry-recognized certification, making them more prepared for the workforce,” said Clayton Franklin, Chief Product Officer of iCEV. “For those who didn’t pass the certification, participating in the contest during the National FFA Convention provided valuable insights into equine science and the opportunity to pursue certification in the future.”

Students who participated in the CDE evaluated and ranked horses based on breed characteristics, conformation, and performance, defended their decisions through presentations to a panel of judges, and took the certification exam through iCEV’s Testing Platform. This comprehensive approach, combining hands-on evaluation, oral presentations, and certification exams, provided a well-rounded assessment of each student’s skills and knowledge, ultimately contributing to their overall ranking in the competition.

According to the American Horse Council Foundation, the equine industry has a $122 billion economic impact nationally, and jobs range from working with horses for recreation, show, racing and labor. This results in a total employment impact of 1.7 million jobs. Following this contest, there are now 67 more students prepared to secure internships and work experiences in the equine industry.
