New web-based application gives schools access to ready-to-use Gold Standard PBL projects in math, science, ELA, and social studies

Novato, CA (July 17, 2025) – PBLWorks TEACH™ has earned a Tech & Learning Best of Show Award at ISTELive 25. TEACH was created by The Buck Institute for Education (dba PBLWorks), a national provider of curriculum and professional development for high-quality Project Based Learning (PBL).

The web-based application provides access to ready-to-use, Gold-Standard PBL projects for middle school math, science, English Language Arts, and social studies. Curriculum units for elementary and high school will be available early in 2026.

The winners of the Tech & Learning Best of Show Awards were announced at the ISTELive 25 conference which took place June 29-July 2, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas. TEACH was named a winner in the Secondary Education category.

“We designed TEACH in response to a growing demand from teachers and administrators for pre-designed PBL units that teachers can use right away with students,” said PBLWorks CEO Bob Lenz. “Winning a Best of Show Award from Tech & Learning is a testament to the work of our team and proof that we are succeeding in our goal to make high-quality PBL easier for teachers to implement with fidelity. With TEACH, we will equip schools with everything they need to make PBL a reality for all students.”

TEACH leverages PBLWorks’ deep expertise and decades of experience to provide robust, engaging, standards-aligned PBL projects complete with step-by-step instructions, embedded professional learning, and downloadable resources and handouts. TEACH also gives users access to an online community for connection, collaboration, and continuous learning with other PBL teachers and experts in the field. The Community provides a space for educators to exchange ideas, ask questions, and get practical support.

The Tech & Learning Best of Show awards evaluates the products exhibited at the ISTE conference and recognizes those that are transforming education and that show the greatest promise to the industry. Evaluation criteria included ease of use, value, uniqueness in the market, and proof that the product helps make teachers’ lives easier and supports student achievement.

“While AI continued to dominate discussions at ISTE this year, we were truly impressed by the nominated products that bolster the core of teaching and learning while also thoughtfully integrating emerging technologies,” noted Christine Weiser, Content Director for Tech & Learning, in the awards announcement. “Our judges selected the innovative products they believe support classroom and district needs. Congratulations to all our winners!”
