The Windward School’s Summer Program offers a month-long curriculum for students in grades 2-9, taught by full-time Windward faculty members trained in the school’s research-validated, multisensory approach. The 2020 summer program starts on Monday, July 6 and ends on Friday, July 31. Students can enroll in a half-day or full-day program at either the Westchester Middle School or Manhattan campuses. For the first time, Windward is offering a half-day program for students entering grade 2. Register online at www.thewindwardschool.org/summer before the registration deadline of Sunday, May 31.

“Now in its 18th year, The Windward School Summer Program provides robust academic support based on our research-based methodology, designed to help students improve their skills in the areas of reading, writing, math, and science, along with study and organizational skills. All students, both from our school and other schools, will benefit from our structured, multisensory approach, delivered by trained Windward teachers, and can choose from a variety of afternoon enrichment offerings,” said Jamie Williamson, Head of The Windward School.

The Windward School Summer Program offers a morning session from 9:00 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. that allows students the opportunity to attend two classes for academic support. The afternoon session, from 12:50 to 2:45 p.m., includes a variety of activities, including sports, drama, and art. All afternoon programs emphasize the learning of group skills in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Now Open to Grade 2 Students

For the first time, The Windward School Summer Program includes half-day programming for students entering grade 2. In order to be considered for the program, all prospective students are required to take part in a 30-minute screening conducted by Windward’s learning specialists to assess their reading readiness and math skills. The results of this screening will determine if the program will benefit the needs of the student. Through this thoughtful screening process, the admissions committee will offer eight seats at both the Westchester and Manhattan campuses. For enrollment and screening information, please direct all inquiries to Tristes Dunn at (914) 949-6968 ext. 2225 or tdunn@thewindwardschool.org.
