3 minutes read

Jennifer Northrup aka “The Candid Librarian” is the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Digital Teaching and Learning Consultant supporting Region 8 (western NC). Northrup joined Dr. Berger to discuss the impact library media sciences has on education, her professional path and the role technology plays in the acquisition of knowledge.

Northrup’s career in education began as a classroom teacher after graduating from Appalachian State University with a degree in Middle Grades Education. She went on to earn National Board Certification and Masters’ degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and East Carolina University in Library and Information Science and Instructional Technology.

Northrup’s experience as a classroom teacher and school library media coordinator informs her practice at the Department of Public Instruction. In addition to strengthening school library media and technology programs through the Digital Teaching and Learning division, Jennifer is an avid blogger, active leader in NCSLMA and served as a keynote speaker for the Alabama School Library Association’s 2014 summer conference.
