Using these resources, educators are empowered to harness this phenomenon to ignite student curiosity in the natural world and more deeply engage students in scientific investigation. The free lesson available to teachers and students is sourced from Discovery Education’s award-winning Science Techbook. In addition to the free lesson now available, Discovery Education has added new content focused on eclipses to the Explore Space: NASA’s Missions of Exploration channel within Discovery Education Experience. The new, K-12 resources added to Discovery Education Experience’s Explore Space: NASA’s Missions of Exploration channel focus on the science behind an eclipse, what’s special about the October eclipse, how to safely watch eclipses, and where the October eclipse can be viewed. Finally, Discovery Education is making available via social media a series of interviews with NASA scientists that explore their career paths, their current work, and answer various questions about the upcoming annular eclipse. Those interviews will be available on Discovery Education’s Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook the week of October 9 and will also be added to the Explore Space: NASA’s Missions of Exploration channel within Discovery Education Experience.
