The way teachers are recruited, trained, retained and compensated is about to get a major makeover, if 40 key education organizations get their way.

The groups have banded together to launch a joint effort – dubbed TeachStrong – that’s aimed at modernizing the teaching profession and elevating it to be the top education policy issue of 2016.
