Chevy Chase, MD – January 21, 2025 – BookBreak is excited to announce its Spring Lineup of bestselling authors coming to classrooms each month via livestream.

Elementary School Author Talks will feature:

Mac Barnett, Cece Bell, Melanie Watt, Lesa and James Ransome, Erin Entrada Kelly, Duncan Tonatiuh, Joanna Ho, Jasmine Warga, Megan McDonald, Thanha Lai, Stacy McAnulty, Vashti Harrison, and Lamar Giles.

Middle School Author Talks will feature:

Cece Bell, Jason Reynolds, Marie Lu, William Kamkwamba, Lisa Fipps, and Traci Chee.

Since 2023, BookBreak has successfully launched its Elementary and Middle School bestselling author talk programs, connecting students with renowned authors virtually, while seamlessly integrating these author sessions into the curriculum. BookBreak’s High School Program will launch in Fall of this year.

BookBreak’s program is designed to inspire all students, starting with the youngest learners through adolescence, to love reading and writing and elevate literacy skills. For elementary school students, BookBreak’s author talks captivate students with laughter, intrigue, and the thrill of new adventures. For middle schoolers, authors share rich stories of history and personal growth that resonate with this age cohort as a fresh voice. This helps break down barriers when challenging them to tackle more difficult content, so they continue to read.

Studies have shown that there is a positive correlation between healthy reading habits and academic success. This includes vocabulary development, improved writing skills, better test scores, and critical thinking across curricula.

As students advance in grade level, regular reading drops off. A study conducted by the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) showed that pleasure reading is on the decline.

BookBreak’s virtual author talk program offers new live events each month that increase student excitement for learning and reading. Each author talk for grades K-8 is 15-30 minutes long and includes comprehensive resources for teachers and librarians that meet curricula and state standards. The students enjoy submitting questions during the live Q&A portion of the live events.
