To support teachers and administrators looking to buck the trend of declining student literacy rates, Just Right Reader is hosting a free webinar, titled “The Art and Science of Teaching Reading Fluency,” featuring acclaimed literacy education expert Dr. Timothy Rasinski. During the hour-long webinar, Rasinski will define reading fluency in relation to the full reading curriculum and explore science-based and artful approaches to teaching this most important reading competency.

The webinar is taking place on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT. Educators can register to attend here.

“The recently-released 2024 NAEP reading results reveal an urgent national crisis in literacy that demands immediate attention and decisive action. Now is the time to help students strengthen their reading skills and provide educators with the resources to do so,” said Sara Rich, founder and CEO of Just Right Reader. “During the upcoming webinar, Dr. Rasinski will share his vast expertise related to reading fluency to help educators better understand how to support and engage their struggling readers.”

By attending the webinar, educators will:

  • Learn how repeated readings for fluency can be artfully as well as scientifically implemented
  • Discover the efficacy of teaching the Fluency Development Lesson for struggling readers

Each participant will additionally receive a free handout of practical classroom tips and strategies.

He has written more than 200 articles and has authored, co-authored, or edited more than 50 books or curriculum programs on reading education. Notably, his research on reading has been cited by the National Reading Panel and has been published in journals such as Reading Research QuarterlyThe Reading Teacher, Reading Psychology, and the Journal of Educational Research.
