MAY 03, 2018

CINCINNATI, Ohio ― Learning Through Art, the Cincinnati-based non-profit organization whose programs have increased opportunities for collaboration, arts education, artistic growth, community engagement, and economic development in the region for the past 26 years, will dedicate the first Bond Hill Little Free Library (LFL), a free book exchange at the corner of California and Matlock Avenues, on Tuesday, May 8, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. The dedication ceremony will feature an introduction by Kathy Wade, co-founder and CEO of Learning Through Art, with remarks from Angela Ginty of Cincinnati Development Fund and Sharon Johnson, the Interim Principal at Bond Hill Academy, as well as a performance by the Bond Hill Academy Boys Choir.

“We are so proud, excited, and gratified to have the opportunity to dedicate this Little Free Library right here in our own neighborhood,” said Kathy Wade, co-founder and CEO of Learning Through Art. “For well over two decades, Learning Through Art has been dedicated to building community through art and literacy throughout the region, and particularly, in our home community. We are deeply grateful for the support of Cincinnati Development Fund, Bond Hill Community Council, Bond Hill Academy of Math and Science Discovery and all of our neighbors.”

The Little Free Library is made possible through a donation from the Cincinnati Development Fund. Little Free Library, a nonprofit organization, inspires a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world. The Bond Hill LFL is available 24/7 and features works of fiction and non-fiction for readers of all ages.  The concept of ‘take a book, leave a book’ at Little Free Libraries provides millions of book exchanges each year and serves as a community resource for Bond Hill families and residents to enrich relationships while sharing a lifelong love of reading. Learning Through Art and Bond Hill Academy will serve as primary stewards.

Sharon Johnson, Interim Principal at Bond Hill Academy of Math and Science Discovery, is especially appreciative for Learning Through Art.

“There’s no better organization to dedicate this library than Learning Through Art, whose work has helped our neighbors develop a love of reading for years,” said Johnson. “Kathy Wade and her organization have been so supportive of our school and such a valuable resource for our students, helping them learn that they can be motivated, engaged, and even thrilled by reading.”

Learning Through Art continues to wrap the region in reading with its commitment to improving the reading achievement of children by increasing their access to books, especially at home.  LTA further builds literacy skills essential to closing the achievement gap and setting up children and families for success in school and life.
