Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) Launches “Voices of ALAS Institute” Series of Webinars

The first webinar “Two Women, One Road” on May 3, 2023 is free and open to the public

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 18, 2023) – The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) has launched the Voices of ALAS Institute, a webinar series which highlights the professional expertise and experience of ALAS members while also providing professional growth opportunities for participants.

The first webinar in the series “Two Women, One Road” takes place at 5 p.m. ET on May 3, 2023 featuring ALAS members Dr. LeAnne Salazar Montoya and Dr. Gina Delgado. It is free and open to the public. To register visit https://bit.ly/43t4Bjd.

The Voices of ALAS Institute webinar series was developed by ALAS’ Professional Growth & Leadership Development Affinity Committee to elevate the voices of ALAS members by providing a forum for them to share their expertise, experience and passion on subjects of interest and need. Members have the opportunity to earn one hour of university professional development credit for each event they attend.

“One of the best ways to grow as a leader is to learn from one’s peers, and we have some amazing experts who are members of ALAS,” said ALAS Executive Director Dr. Maria Armstrong. “Our Voices of ALAS Institute highlights the amazing expertise and unique perspective of our members and allows others to learn from their best practices. The inaugural webinar is free and open to the public, offering a perfect opportunity to learn more about ALAS and the type of programming we provide for members.”

About the Association of Latino Administrators & Superintendents (ALAS)

The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents [ALAS] is committed to providing a perspective to all aspiring school and district administrators including superintendents through programs, services, advocacy and networks rooted in Latino experiences and culture. ALAS has nearly 8,000 members across 23 state affiliates with several more states soon to be a part of the ALAS Familia. Our Vision, Mission and Goals are to provide leadership at the national level that assures every school in America effectively serves the educational needs of all students with an emphasis on Latino and other historically marginalized youth through continuous professional learning, policy advocacy, and networking to share practices of promise for our students and the communities where we serve.

By the year 2026, Latino children will make up 30 percent of the school-age population. In the nation’s largest states – California, Texas, Florida, and New York- all of whom are ALAS State Affiliates– Latinos already have reached that level. It is of vital interest to invest in the education of every child, and the professional learning of all educators who serve Latino youth.
