Dr. Jeff Hawkins grew up in Neon, Kentucky, a small Appalachian town, and served as executive director of the Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative (KVEC), which serves 22 rural school districts in eastern Kentucky. Under his leadership KVEC launched The Holler, an online platform for sharing stories from the region's students and schools.
