The Future of Education Technology® Conference (FETC®), an intensive, highly collaborative exploration of new technologies, best practices and pressing issues, announced today best-selling author and one of the world’s leading technology futurists, Daniel Burrus, as the opening keynoter of the 2023 in-person event being held January 23 – 26 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

Burrus will present Technology Hard Trends Elevating and Transforming Education at the national conference. He will discuss important predictions about technology that will happen based on measurable, tangible evidence or technology “Hard Trends” that can be used to elevate learning, transform processes and shape the future of education. With his proven track record of accurate technology forecasts spanning more than the past 35 years, Burrus’ eye-opening keynote will include insight into identifying disruptions in ed tech before they have time to interrupt, which will give educators the opportunity to drive transformational change in education and actively shape the future rather than just react to it. He will also share rich examples of how educators can use the certainty that comes from Hard Trends to have the confidence to make bold moves.

“Daniel Burrus is the “just in time” keynote that we need for FETC 2023,” said Jennifer Womble, Conference Chair for the Future of Education Technology Conference. “After experiencing a massive disruption during the pandemic, we must design schools that will thrive in the future. Education professionals will learn the hard trends of technology, that they can apply to their pedagogy and give them the confidence to elevate student learning,”

Burrus is considered one of the world’s leading technology forecasters and disruptive innovation experts and is a strategic advisor to Fortune 500 executives, government agencies and educational institutions helping them to profit from technological, social and business forces that are converging to create enormous, untapped opportunities. He is also a New York Times bestselling author of seven books, including Technotrends, Flash Foresight, and his latest book, The Anticipatory Organization: Turn Change and Disruption Into Opportunity and Advantage.
